*nods* I think you could argue that, apart from maybe the Weasleys, no one in the WW had a particularly idea childhood. Even Draco, though he may not have been physically abused, didn't necessarily have a cake walk with a father like Lucius. Severus' home life had to be pretty bad I imagine for him not to cut Harry any slack, realizing how he grew up.
