The words and watching the last moment of her sisters life played over and over in her dreams, rolling over onto her back Alicia looked up at the ceiling, Scuba jumped on the bed, a moment later Leaf was on the bed too. Twisting slightly she looked at the clock on the wall, 04:04 in the morning. She wasn’t going to be able to sleep anymore. Rubbing her hands over her face she sat up looking out the window of her room. It was still dark out, peaceful and raining, of course.
Moving around Leaf, Alicia let her feet touch the cool floor as she changed into something to run in. As she glanced at a picture of her whole family a pain struck in her heart. The look on both of her parents’ faces were filled with disappointment and anger. Her father had asked her why hadn’t she come to them, her siblings, she wasn’t sure what they thought but she wasn’t sure she was ready to face more hatred for her.
Pulling her hair back into a ponytail she nodded for the dogs to follow her motioning them to be quiet. Alicia snuck out of the house, a few more of the resident pups following along with her. The moment she was outside she took off at a light jog, as her muscles started to feel more and more warmed up she sped up, she kept speeding up as she ran up the hill away from town as fast as she could.
Pushing, running, faster, faster, faster.
Crash.
Falling her pants ripping at her left knee drawing blood, the other covered in grass stains, her hands on the ground as she fought to catch her breath, dry sobs shaking her entire body, the rain beating down on her back. The dogs stopped and jogged back to Alicia each in their own way trying to so comfort but Alicia couldn’t react, instead, she curled up unto a ball, her forehead on the ground, her legs pulled under her as her body shook.
