âGive us a look, Lee, go onâŚâMARCH 2008 - 4TH YEAR
The young boy grinned as a few students stepped away from the crowd. It was about time for everyone to board the train, Lee had already said goodbye to his parents and spent most of the time catching up with friends and showing off his pet tarantula. He just closed the box when he spotted a familiar face nearby.
âOi! Alicia!â He smiled brightly at his friend as he bumped a few shoulders making his way over to Alicia. âHave a good summer?â He asked once he reached her.
Standing with her older brother Rocco who was looking over her shoulder at someone he fancied, Alicia rolled her eyes and slapped his arm telling him to head over to talk to them. Next thing she knew she heard Leeâs voice and saw his smile.
âLee!â She grinned giving him a one-armed hug. âYeah, it was alright, how about you? Whatâs that?â She asked looking down at the box he was holding. Alicia still thought it was stupid you couldnât have dogs at Hogwarts.
âNot bad, not bad.â Lee replied. His eyebrows raised as he held up the box to her, grinning madly. âSomeone suggested Spinderella, and I have to say I like the sound of it. Not scared of spiders are you?â
âSpinderella?â She asked tilting her head with a slightly worried expression. âAs long as they arenât the sort to kill you with one bite, like those Armed spiders, those things are terrifying. Wait a second? Youâve got a spider in there?â
âHey, what dâya take me for?â Lee gave her a faux hurt look. âSheâs gentle, and yeah.â He opened the box to show Alicia the tarantula. âSee?â
âNever know, may have decided to take after Hagrid and have a dangerous sort in there.â She teased looking into the box. She had a moment of creepy crawling feelings but smiled. âSheâs cute! I think Spinerella works for her, but have you asked her yet?â
Lee let out a small chuckle. âMerlin, heâs great and all but if I ever start headed down that road, stop me alright?â He looked pleased when Alicia agreed that Spinderella was cute. âI havenât, but I think sheâs okay with it.â He looked down. âWhat do you think? Spinderella alright with you?â The spider did nothing and Lee just shrugged as he closed the lid. âLooks like a yes to me.â Lee looked around for a moment and watched the other students boarding the train. âWe should probably get on, but did you hear the rumors? Someone was saying that Harry Potterâs here.â
âHarry Potter?â She asked with wide eyes as she joined him heading onto the train and getting lost in the crowd of students.
âSuspending Dumbledore has got to be the stupidest thing anyone could do!â Alicia commented as she looked up from a potions essay to look over at Lee who was sitting with her.QUIDDITCH HOUSE CUP - 5TH YEAR
âIt doesnât make any sense, Hagrid isnât a bad sort, sure, a little intimidating at first, but suspending Dumbledore? They really think thatâll stop the attacks?â Shaking her head. âAt this rateâŚâ She didnât finish that thought.
Lee shook his head when Alicia spoke up. âI donât know what theyâre playing at with removing Dumbledore. It doesnât make any sense at all.â He sighed. She was right, Hagrid wasn't bad, intimidating, yes, eccentric, yes, but not bad. âThey just want someone to blame.â Lee said. âThey have no idea what else to do.â
Lee stayed silent for a moment. Alicia was right, what was going to happen with Dumbledore out of the picture? Sure, they had professors like McGonagall, and he pitied anyone that would try to go toe to toe with her, but not having Dumbledore? âI know.â He finally said. âI guess the best we can do right now is to try and protect ourselves and as many students, âcourse itâs easier said than done.â He acknowledged it wasnât that simple. They didnât even know what they were up against.
âTossing around blame out of fear does such wonders,â Alicia grumbled rolling her eyes. It wasnât directed at Lee but at the situation at hand. âWeâre already moving around the castle like cattle, Iâm not sure what else theyâre going to be able to do if whoever is behind it, and I mean really behind it is caught.â
Lee rubbed his temples. âI really donât know but I hope it gets figured out soon before something worse happens.â
âYOU CHEATING SCUM!â Lee Jordan was howling into the megaphone, dancing out of Professor McGonagallâs reach. âYOU FILTHY, CHEATING B-âSEPTEMBER 2009 - 6TH YEAR
Lee was quite surprised that Professor McGonagall didnât even try to tell Lee off, in fact he was quite impressed with the level of temper she was showing towards Malfoy. He opened his mouth commenting on Montagueâs score. The match was intense.
And another score from Angelina.
Leeâs eyes turned when he found Harry shooting off like a bolt of lighting.
âHARRY HAS THE SNITCH! HARRY HAS THE SNITCH! GRYFFINDOR WINS!â Lee jumped up and down excitedly and didnât even wait, he practically leapt out of the stands to join the rush of other Gryffindors. He high-fived and hugged both Fred and George. Gave Katie a twirl and rushed to Alicia. âTHATâS MY GIRL!â
It was a thrill, one of the better matches Alicia had ever taken part of and they WON THE CUP! She couldnât believe it. There was a rush of hugging Harry, getting a kiss on the cheek from someone and before she knew it she was face to face with Lee. âLEE!â She yelled throwing her arms around him while still bouncing up and down.
âWE WON! WE WON! THE HOUSE CUP!â She yelled partly from excitement and partly because it was so loud and everyone was yelling.
Lee bounced with her. âITâS OURS! GRYFFINDOR!â He shouted alongside her. He was really starting to wonder if heâd be able to see this day. The excitement from the crowd was almost intoxicating.
Lee made sure to congratulate Angelina and Harry, when he found Alicia again he grinned at her. âIâm going to make a run to the kitchens, any special requests for tonight?â
âOh!â She jumped up and down as she thought. âThose little caramel cakes!â She kissed Leeâs cheek. âThanks!â She got out before being dragged away by Katie and Angelina.
âIâm starting to think Professor Moody might be trying to permanently hurt Warrington, donât get me wrong, I appalled his efforts, but ouch,â Alicia said to Lee as they left Defense Against the Dark Arts one afternoon after heâd put the imperious curse on most of the students. Warrington had a particularly bad time with it and had a number of bruises. âStill, doesnât feel exactly right.â She added with a shrug.OCTOBER 2010 - 7TH YEAR
Lee thought to himself for a moment. It was hard because Fred and George were making comments about how amazing the classes have been, and while Lee agreed he also didnât want to seem too hartless in front of Alicia.
âHeâs not going to be able to sit comfortably for a while, thatâs for sure.â Lee agreed. âItâs both brilliant to watch, but youâre right itâs weird. I canât believe theyâre evening allowing it. Donât get me wrong, it does feel like weâre learning something proper. I mean just because itâs illegal doesnât mean a terrible person wonât use them, itâs honestly good to know, just in case. But weâve seen the board get their knickers in a twist over less.â
Alicia agreed, it was worthwhile to learn and she wanted to learn but she just had a nagging feeling she couldnât explain. âItâd have been better if it were a Quidditch year not that Warrington is all that difficult to play against as it is.â She commented with a small smirk.
"We should be learning this sort of stuff, seems a bit strange it's taken this long to really get a good look at what is possible." She agreed. "It's nice for a change to see Slytherins get a small taste of what we've been dealing with from Snape for years." Alicia added changing the subject, not that Moody wasn't tough on them too it was just a bit different, or Alicia liked to think it was.
Lee nodded. âYouâre right. He gives Gryffindorâs so much shite. I donât know if heâs nearly as bad with Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff, but it does seem like Snape has a vendetta against Gryffindor.â Students could say the same thing about Professor Dumbledore showing favoritism, and in some ways, they were right but at least Professor Dumbledore wasnât borderline abusive towards his students.
âYeah, but itâs the Tournament.â Lee grinned. âAs much as Iâll miss Quidditch this year, Iâm really looking forward to this, and weâre going to make sure that itâs a Hogwarts victory, and hope to Merlin that itâs not a Slytherin victor.â
"He tried to give me only an A the other day on an assignment because my hair wasn't pulled back exactly right," Alicia rolled her eyes. "He's a prat!" It didn't help that potions was wildly known as one of Alicia's best subjects.
"It'll be fun, but it's not Quidditch!" Alicia sighed. "Can you imagine if Wood was here this year? I think he'd stage a revolution!" And she'd be right there behind him. "Ew, no, no Slytherin Champion, they don't have anyone who would even be remotely good enough."
Lee nodded. âHe really is. I donât know why Professor Dumbledore keeps him around.â There had to be a reason because he couldnât imagine there being no complaints from parents. There were plenty when word got out that Professor Lupin was a werewolf.
Alicia shrugged. She didn't have a clue.
A loud laugh came from Lee. âHe would lose his mind, thatâs for sure.â A mischievous grin appeared. âDonât worry. Fred and George and I are working on a way to make sure all the best possible choices get a chance.â But he held up his hand as if to tell Alicia he couldnât answer any more questions. âDonât you worry, itâs going to be an amazing year.â
"Probably would have fallen over, fainted, out for the year," she teased. "Oh yeah?" She asked, tilting her head. "Do I want to know what you lot have planned?"
Lee raised his eyes. âYouâll see, Spinnet! Youâll see!â
âOi! Alicia!â Lee called as he walked into the Gryffindor Common Room. He kept silent until he was closer, making sure no one else around could hear them. âDid you hear about the meeting in Hogsmeade with Harry? You going to go?â
Looking up she smiled brightly nodded. âCourse I am!â She whispered quickly. âAt the very least it supports a teammate, and itâs our N.E.W.T. year, we sure as heck arenât going to learn anything useful from Professor Kitty Plates are we?â
Lee nodded in agreement. âI know my Dadâs going to be complaining, youâre right. Itâs our N.E.W.T. year and we arenât learning anything proper!â There was a question that he really wanted to ask Alicia but he wasnât quite sure how to phrase it. âPlus, you know.â He said with some small hesitation. âMy ex is convinced that Potter and Professor Dumbledore have lost their minds somehow.â He rolled his eyes. âI donât think so, and I think this is going to be the best way to figure shite out.â
Alicia rolled her eyes. âIâd trust Harry and Professor Dumbledore before I would whatever the Daily Prophet has to say right now.â She was a little partial to her fellow Quidditch team members. âDumbledore is eccentric, heâs not mad.â
âToo right, mate.â Agreed Lee. âHeâs always been eccentric, but heâs not mad or a liar.â He shook his head. âI had to tell her that too, I said there was no reason for Harry to lie about it all. If anyone actually met the kid for even a second theyâd see how much he actually hates the bloody attention.â Lee rolled his eyes, the absurdity of it all, but then he shivered. âMind you, canât say I donât wish a little that it wasnât real.â The idea of You-Know-Who returningâŚ
âItâd be a lot better for the world if Harry was mad and he was making it up, but youâre right, he doesnât like attention over that, Quidditch, sure, but over⌠the scar? You-Know-Who, no, I think heâd rather just be normal, or as normal as anyone who goes to Hogwarts can be.â She sighed.
Truth be told, he did feel bad for Harry. Like Alicia had said, itâd be a lot better for the world if Harry and Dumbledore were mad, but he couldnât just dismiss it. Harry shouldnât have to talk about that night, but there was a small part of Lee that wished he had more information. Itâs just hard to wrap his mind around it, his parents told him about the first war and the idea of that happening againâŚ.
âI guess weâll find out more at the meeting.â
