Given their closeness, Arthur couldn't fail to notice Declan's hands. For a brief moment, he willed the other boy to reach out and hold onto him as it appeared he was going to. Yet he slipped the hands into his coat pockets a moment later, and Arthur sighed.
"You should have told me," Arthur agreed, nodding shortly. Despite his unease at the situation, he could understand why Declan had done it. Privacy, yes, but also a new experience. A broadening of horizons. In truth, Arthur thought that Declan was the very embodiment of pushing against the walls of his comfort zones.
Wetting his lips anxiously, Arthur looked around the street again before sighing. "We're here now," he said, sidestepping a positive answer in lieu of a suggestive one instead. "Though I intend to take you up on that offer of hot chocolate as compensation."
