The eyes, almost glowing in the dimness of the alleyway, were unsettling. Yelena wondered if they could be some strange trick of the light. What triggered her sense of alarm was the edge she heard in Will's voice. He was nervous about something she hasn't quite picked up yet. She's learned to trust his instincts.
"Let's get out of here," she agreed, letting him pull her towards the other end, away from the eerily silent watcher.
Yelena started backing away. It wasn't long before she pulled around, trying to make a dash for it. However, when she turned, they found the other end blocked off, too. If she thought the previous pair of eyes were glowing, the twin orbs that met her stare now seemed to shine even brighter. She could be hearing things, but she thought she detected a low, animalistic growl coming from this side. She also had the strangest impression that little display of aggression wasn't aimed at them only.
The blonde quickly stepped forward, placing herself protectively in front of Will. She wasn't about to give any verbal warnings. Raising her arm, she aimed her wristlet - her Widow's Bite - in the direction of the growling figure. The discharge of electroshock hit its target, who sent up a yelp of pain, keeling over.
Yelena turned back and aimed another charge at the other end of the alleyway. This time, it was less effective. The eerily silent one shook off the Widow's Bite far too easily and, as smoothly as a shadow, leapt at them, knocking full force into Will.
