That was quite the list of things to avoid, some easier done so than others. But Pree was nothing if not a good sport. He kept out of the sun for the next day and felt much better for it.
He didn't go out at night, owing to some of the things he'd heard about the city, and enjoyed his newfound reflexes and speed in moving around the bar, instead. But it still nagged at him, the sudden change in his appetite. The toll it had taken on Conrad.
So when morning dawned the next day, it was Pree who came to Conrad's door, seeking him out of concern for his wellbeing. Yes, that was all. No other reason.
He rapped his knuckles gently against the door so as not to disturb him, though he could hear Conrad's heartbeat on the other side and knew his friend wasn't asleep.
