Adam hadn't expected it to be John; when he heard his father's voice, he relaxed slightly. "Hey," he greeted before turning back to the burger on the grill. "Fries are almost done, I can do another burger if you want."
It was going to be awkward between them, at least for this. He knew that. But that didn't mean Adam couldn't extend the offer of food. Just because he had issues didn't mean he'd be entirely unfriendly.
Just very guarded. Then again, he was a Winchester. "Guarded" was practically their middle name.
But even he'd admit it was good to see John there. Partly because he'd had so precious few chances to actually interact with the man and partly because now it meant he'd have the chance to say a few things he'd wanted to say for a while now. He could wait at least until they both had food before talking about anything, though.
