"Oh. I just it call it magic. Or shine. I got the word shine from my uncle and now I've taught it from all of them." Abra told her. No offence to the woman, but she thought shine was a much better name. It sounded prettier, like glitter or crystals - funnily enough, the stuff Dan would have no interest in.
"You can be be a batter." Abra promised. "And we can practice for when it's our turn in the field." She had already decided this woman would be on her team, since she had invited her to play.
"Follow me." Abra led the way to the area where the others were practising. As the walked, the balls being tossed and batted back and forth - all stopped in mid-air.
"Hey!" One of the other kids called out.
"It's for safety, until we find a good practice spot." Abra explained. It wasn't cheating. The game hadn't started yet.
