"Nobody's normal, Erica," Derek said with a slight frown. "If you shoot for what everyone else is, you'll spend your life disappointed. If you want to dance, dance," he told her, "find a place and pump up the music until your ears bleed, if that's what you need to do." He didn't know what a normal human got to do either, cause he'd never been one to start with. Did he think he was missing out? Not so much.
"You're just racking up the things you're going to have to try," Derek said with a grin, "because you haven't tried a whole lot. This, you're good at," he admitted.
He wouldn't have come close to making that shot either and he wasn't about to rub salt in that wound. Derek simply took his place and started to line up a shot.
"Not an Alpha," he reminded her with a smile, "and not much of a pool player either. Don't get too comfy there, you'll be back up soon enough."
He took his time picking his shot and found it, without flourish or swagger Derek put one of his balls into the pocket. It didn't rebound as well as he'd hoped and left him with one of Erica's balls blocking his way. Still, he took the shot and gave a hiss of frustration when the cue-ball nudged Erica's before his own.
"Over to the hustler," he said nodding back to the table with a grin.
