"Honestly, you're not missing out on a whole lot," he answered with a shrug. There were a couple of places Derek could handle hanging out, but anywhere crowded was pretty much out. As for the company? Unless there was a good reason for him to be there he mostly stayed away. "I'm having to learn to get sociable here," he told Erica with a chuckle, "which is a reach, let me tell you. How about you, you finding your feet here?"
He gave a nod at her explanation, "I'd not thought about it as math before," Derek replied. "I think of it more like shooting a gun," but that was just angles and geometry too, when it all came down to it. "Instincts too."
Derek watched as Erica got herself into an impossible spot and was curious how she was going to get out of it. "Those balls are not on your side, girl," he said with a smile, "which might mean I get a shot."
