The quiet of the library was a welcome change from the laughter and other noise of the party. And there was no chance that his brother would be here tonight which was another added bonus. Sirius wasn't sure he'd ever be able to actually talk to him again so long as he continued to be a complete idiot anytime Sirius opened his mouth. He had higher hopes for this conversation at least.
Or at least the hope that it would go better than the last time he and Snape were alone in a room together.
It would have been an easy thing to snap back, to snark at the other man and go for the weak spots. But he was trying to be better, to be more than he had once been at least. Neville seemed like he'd been forced to deal with a lot explaining the future to two men who couldn't seem to figure out how to move past their own histories.
"It should have been a good plan." He said with a sigh, it had been brilliant, because of course he was the obvious choice to be the Secret Keeper for James and Lily, and he was okay with that, he wanted people to think it was him. But when they tried to pull the information out of him they would come up empty handed because it wouldn't have been something Sirius could tell. That was the whole point, and then it had all blown up spectacularly in his face when it turned out that Peter was a fucking traitor.
