"It's going to be very hard to avoid each other," he said. "There are few people here, and the wizards are even less. We're bound to see each other and interact. The alternative is to lock ourselves in our room and never get out again, and that doesn't seem doable."
He sighed. "There was a time when we got along. Before school, before the houses, before all of that, we got along, remember? It was the two of us against the world." Granted, their world included mostly their parents and extended family, but it was their world. "We'd try spells that backfired and Kreacher had to cover for us, but we did it together. We can do things together again. There's no war here, no sides to pick, no Hogwarts. In the end, we both worked to kill the Dark Lord. Let's just use that as the starting point."
Regulus didn't know if it was enough, but maybe it was time to clear the air, since Sirius seemed to be listening. "I never believed in him, you know? I was just so angry with you for leaving me behind and I wanted to hurt your friends, because I was jealous of them, because from the moment you went to school, you seemed to love them more than me. The moment you were sorted in Gryffindor, you forgot about me, and you were my world. We can't change any of that, but maybe we can try being brothers again."
