"I know, right? So inconvenient," she said with a straight face.
Mikasa looked up at him. In her world, she wasn't short for a woman, but she felt so much shorter here, with so many tall people. "I wouldn't mind. I'm doing training with Luke early in the morning. He usually starts at six, and I might inquire about the school. Other than that, I'm free." She started walking, in step with him. "Insomnia doesn't sound welcoming, as a name I mean. People who don't sleep eventually die." The rest of the story was a lot better. Her leaders hadn't been so welcoming. "They welcomed us, too, but there wasn't much food. My friends and I enlisted to get revenge. It sounds that despite the world, planet or leader, the motivations of refugees don't change much." She smiled. "I guess if the lights are to keep the monster away, the name makes more sense."
Mikasa agreed with him. They were just geared that way. "No, we don't. I'm trying here. At home, a few words were enough. I let others do the talking. My friends could talk forever so I didn't have to, but they aren't here." She'd have to work to learn about other people."
She thought for a moment. "I think I want to, and if they say no, then you can teach me. I want to see what the school is like and that Danger Room that created so much drama."
She was still considering the earring, so it would be hypocritical of her to push. "We're still here, right, so maybe fate wants us here."
