"The hotel probably hasn't helped. It's hard to find your identity in the aftermath of a war, but it has to be harder when your reference points are all gone," Jamie said, very calmly. He could tease and joke, but he also could be serious when the occasion demanded it.
"Look, why don't we make a deal? I'll try to tease less since it's not really what you're used to, and you try to stop thinking of me as my dad, because I'm not. I could never be him, even if I wanted to," he said, trying not to show the problems that he had with his father and living in his shadow.
"So why don't we start this again, yes? How are we dealing with this? We don't know how long it lasts or what the requirements to break it are. You could move in with me. I have a solo room, just in case your roommate returns," he said, hoping that they could get through this without retorting to stupid Gryffindor/Slytherin feuds.
