Of course around the same time that Peter had reached for the wall, Steve had stubbornly tried running harder. Surely, if they were able to break the bond, it would have happened by now, but giving up wasn't really something Steve was prone to doing..
..unless it endangered someone else in the process. The moment he heard Peter ask for help, he instinctively brought himself to a stop and whipped around to see what was happening. Poor Peter looked like he was stretched out like a rubber band. His hands were flat against the wall and the only thing preventing the rest of him from crashing to the floor was the tension caused by Steve's proximity to him. Shit.
