Even without her sense of sight, Yelena was not so removed from social cues. She might be emotionally regressed in some ways, but this she could understand. After all, all Widows were trained in the art of seduction. Picking up on interest, in a half dozen other tells than visual indicators, was part of that.
For Will's part, she felt the shrug because her hand was touching his shoulder. A noncommittal response. Which likely meant she was treading closer to something real than he cared to admit. Meanwhile, his own hand had grazed the edge of her dress, which displayed a lot more skin than she might have planned to show off had she known she was going to end up in the private room of a man she was just getting to know. The feather-light contact sent a delicious little shiver down her spine.
She understood coercion as well as more than coercion. This wasn't that. She felt no imposed sense of obligation to trade anything, except maybe a fresh bottle of whiskey, for Will's help. Yelena didn't relate to people well. Most spies and assassins didn't, even if they were masters at faking it. However, genuine emotional connections, were few and far between. Finding something relatable in someone this quickly was even less common. She wondered if that was another gift of the hotel.
"I believe you," Yelena said softly. "I'll have to show you mine sometime."
The old jagged cut on her right bicep was on display. She remembered it well, from the glass of the car accident in Budapest, when she dramatically declared to her sister that she could have bled to death, was on display. But her other ones, the more meaningful ones, were smaller and more hidden. It didn't feel like the thing to do was take his hand and place it on her thigh just now.
Dangerous, unfortunately, wasn't a turn-off. Quite the opposite, in fact. Her fingers curled gently around his shoulder, letting her nails trace the outlines of the scar there. A bullet hole this time, if she had to guess based on feel. She was more purposeful in her grazing touch this time. If he wasn't going to cop to an answer for that one, there were other ways to verify.
