He hadn't known what to expect and sitting waiting he saw Mikasa, or someone who looked like her come toward him. Rising to his feet to meet her he saw all her finery, the clothes and the makeup, and thought quietly how different she looked from when he had saw her last. The difference was jarring, and not knowing what else to say or how it would be taken he settled for something simple, true and easy. "You look very nice," he said, before retaking his seat.
Reiner shifted slightly, not sure of where to start he folded his hands in his lap and turned his attention to this new Mikasa, who was different but not so different that he couldn't see who she used to be.
"But so much has happened?" He questioned, knowing that was a terrible understatement, if it had any meaning at all. What had come to happen between when he had come from and Mikasa had, he couldn't guess at if he tried. He never imagined he'd ever have the chance to speak to those he knew, that he had befriended while serving as a soldier ever again. Certainly in any sort of meaningful way, which it could be he knew if he was able to allow it to happen.
