Bucky + Peggy
It had taken the government appointed therapist weeks to get as much out of him and Peggy had pulled all of it from his mouth in the matter of minutes. Bucky supposed it was the level of trust and respect he carried for her that made it so easy to just spill it all out. And once he'd started, he wasn't sure how to stop.
"I know it sounds strange but believe it or not, this is still the happiest I've felt in too long. Since before the war even. And I would be happy to live in a timeline where you and Steve ended up together. Honestly, Peggy. That doesn't sound like a loss to me. I'd still be around. It didn't matter how much of Steve's life I got to be apart of. Just as long as I was apart of it."
Peggy obviously had some thoughts on the whole mess but she was keeping most of them to herself. Calling them out though on their shenanigans did still get him to smile because how could he not? Peggy chastising him in that soft voice reminded him of his sister. "Well that's what we need you around for, Peggy. To help us see what fools we can be. I'll admit I'm still a man with pride and it does get the better of me sometimes. That and my temper. Still, uh, still working on that one." Thankfully no one here had triggered him yet to the point where he'd had to clock anyone in the face.
