Zemo had lost his fair share of fights in the past, but it had been quite a while since his last proper ass-kicking. Being strangled by Josef in New York and being hit in the head by the shield (thanks to John Walker) had both hurt like hell, but neither truly counted as getting his rear handed to him. Zemo was more the fight-from-afar type. He preferred guns and simply outsmarting his enemies over hand-to-hand combat. That being said, he wasn't about to turn down Elektra's offer, even if it had been extremely risky. Boredom had certainly played a part in Zemo's decision, but loyalty had been an even bigger element. Loyalty, not only to Elektra and Xian, but also to his own beliefs. When the baron finally dragged himself back to his room, he was in something of a foul mood, but only because of the amount of pain he was in. Pain he could have avoided if he had simply fled instead of standing his ground. Self-preservation mode might have been his default back in his own reality, but here at the Crown Plaza, trying to protect the few almost-friends he had felt more important than saving his own skin. He had planned on keeping all of this to himself but unfortunately, that probably wasn't going to be an option. Just as Zemo unlocked the door to his room, he sensed movement out of the corner of his eye. It was Bucky, heading down the corridor and walking very clearly in his direction. And not looking too happy about it. It was obvious that Zemo had just been involved in something. He had a black eye. His clothes were ripped and singed in several places. A deep cut was dripping blood from his upper arm. He was wearing his gloves and carrying his mask; a clear indicator that he had just taken it off. He'd pretty much been caught red-handed and he really wasn't in the mood to chat about it. Regardless, he'd leave his door open as he moved inside, implying Bucky was free to follow him. |
