Chris had tried to be patient, to give Melissa time to come to him if she was here. But after all the time he had spent with her, being without her just didn't feel right to him. He had no idea if she was safe and that worried him most of all. But there was also the feeling he had when he was around her. She had this way of calming him down, but exciting him at the same time. As much as he had cared for his first wife, no one had ever made him feel this way. Sure most people would look at her and see a single mother and nurse, but Chris knew that there was just so much more. Even though she wasn't a trained fighter she was one of the bravest people he had ever met. It was a lot easier to go into the types of situations they found themselves in when you had training, but Melissa would go with no training at all armed with a first aid kit and a taser just to protect the people she loves. That night in the woods when she had followed him and insisted of being his back up was the moment he knew she was the perfect woman for him. It had taken him some time to come to terms with it, and really let her all the way in but once he had he knew there was no going back.....and he wouldn't want to, even if he could. So, not even a full day after his own arrival he was leaving his room to go look for her. He just couldn't wait any longer. He needed to know that she was safe; he wanted her in his arms, and more importantly he wanted her where he could protect her. That was a promise he had made to himself...not only for his own benefit, but for Scott's as well. He wasn't about to let Scott lose anyone else, let alone his mother. He made his way down the hallways of the hotel, trying to decide where would be best to look first. And then it came to him; perhaps he should check the lobby and then filter out. Maybe she was there looking for the others, of course wanting to find them so she could take care of them all. It was just what she did. |
