"You were there," Sirius agreed, "So you more than anyone should have seen just how unhappy I was even before James ever entered the picture. Meeting him, being sorted into Gryffindor, was just a chance for me to find a little bit of something that made me happy for a change." James and the others had been a lifeline to Sirius, he was never going to be what their parents wanted in a son, no matter where he'd been sorted. "I can't help that I made friends when I went to school, people who cared about me for me and not just because it was some sort of familial duty." He wouldn't be made to feel bad about having made friends.
Sirius didn't resist the urge to roll his eyes then, "Well I hope the two of you will be very happy if he ever does show up here then." He couldn't imagine why Regulus was here at all if he was so dead set on telling Sirius again and again just how lacking he was.
"I think I'd rather just take my chances." He said, uninterested in the magic that people were using to keep themselves there. He didn't think he wanted to chance not being able to go back, regardless of what it meant for his future. It was still his life, and there had been good moments too, things he didn't think he wanted to miss out on. "I think we could do a fairly good job of avoiding one another if we tried hard enough."
