"Right, but even if we had clothes, you can't play without cards," she responded amiably.
"I wince at some of the things people decide should be common knowledge." She had plenty of things that she could gripe about. There was no point when it wouldn't really change anything. And she wouldn't want people to think she was a whiner. "You've got to be joking. Honestly, if I thought I had a chance, well..." she deliberately let her words trail off.
She steadfastly ignored the blush growing on her cheeks.
"Oh, don't misunderstand me, I only came out because I was dead starved and didn't want to ask for help." She hated doing that. People would feel like you owed them. "And, I wouldn't be down here if I didn't bolt at the first sign of someone possibly seeing me."
