Hope hadn't done the best job at settling in to this place. It hadn't helped that she'd been pulled here almost immediately after getting dumped, and that she was still holding that pain close to her heart. She'd really thought that what she'd had with Landon was real. Sure, she was a tribrid and he was the son of Malivore, and she still felt guilty that having sex with him had sent him to the darkness, but she'd been sure that what they'd had was real, and that he'd be willing to find a way to work it out.
Apparently, she'd been wrong.
And that hurt. A lot. She'd loved him and trusted him - no, she still loved him. It seemed that it was the truest fact of her life that everyone she loved wouldn't stay in her life very long. Her parents, her friends...everyone she got close to died.
And then she'd found herself here, away from everything. She had some serious decisions to make back home, and being here meant that she couldn't face the things she needed to face. She felt as if she was in some miserable limbo, left here to stew on the choices she would have to make as soon as she was sent back.
She found herself walking down the hall because she couldn't stand to stay in her room pacing any longer. Maybe a walk would do her good, or maybe she could go outside and take a run, burn off some of the anxious energy that had built up into her.
She came around a corner and almost ran into a woman frantically running down the hall. It was only Hope's supernaturally quick reflexes that kept the collision from happening.
"Woah," she said, her heart pounding. "Watch out."
