Finn was trying his best to keep the spirits up and pushing forward. He had not experienced a long separation from them while at the hotel, nor anyone he cared about disappearing on him entirely. Poe had come back, Ben had come back to life. Those instances were trying but not extended like this. There was not a feeling of extended uncertainty and waking every morning to check the closet to see if Ben's stuff was still there or go down to Rey and Poe's room as if expecting to see Poe sitting there waiting. Finn didn't have access to Armitage's room like Rey did, so he tagged along every now and then on her own rounds- as if they would have different outcomes apart from each other.
He didn't know what he would have done if Rey wasn't there. He barely knew what to do with himself in general, but his sleep had barely been relieving as his mind decidedly played out the worst-case scenarios. In his waking hours, all he could try to focus on was that they might be somewhere nice. Without them. Some kind of Honeymoon for his best friend and Hux with the baked goods of Ben. It could be super nice for all he knew, but why hadn't everyone went? What was the purpose of the hotel's decisions to split them up?
Ari had become increasingly needy and only seemed to settle with Rey- which Finn understood, he had never in his life had a pet or understood how to take care of them as much as he liked the concept in theory. Finn exited the bathroom, wiping his hands with a towel and smiled at the sight. "They have to come back soon," he offered softly as he laid down on the opposite side of Rey from Ari, wrapping his arms around her and peting the bird's shoulder in the action.
"Their stuff is still here, so maybe they'll bring us presents from wherever they were sent?" He tried to sound optimistic.
