Claire was still scared, still bloody with oil from the concrete ground in her hair. But the worst had been over and she’d had her little bit of revenge, taking the power back in any way that she could. “You were a little late,” she said as she moved to perch on the edge of the couch, to sit for a moment. “We were at your house, then I wasn’t. Now you’re here and there’s some bullshit future magic,” she winced as she licked her lips, pain seeming to just radiate through her. How did he do it? How did his body take it.
Her wrists were tacky from the duct tape and the last thing she needed was this, to be in some creepy ass hotel. She wasn’t the type to cry, more inclined to make a joke as her lip quivered. But if anyone got a free pass it was her and Claire covered her face with her hands as her shoulders slumped and she sobbed. The fear, adrenaline and relief washed through her because damn it she’d been brave and Claire deserved this.
