Bev glanced to Dan and then looked up at the numbers lighting up at the top of the elevator. She had one of her feelings that something was wrong and couldn't figure out what. It was one of those moments, when she couldn't even decide if it was simple intuition from the way Dan stood and looked at the floor, or it was a more powerful phenomenon.
"That's not bad, considering we haven't been here long." Bev said encouragingly. Even she took the occasional alone time for a quiet drag on a cigarette and a bit of reflection. So much had happened in a relatively short time. "I hope you don't mind me crashing the one time you ventured out on your own."
