Wes shrugged, hoping that casual gesture would soften the insult he'd apparently just thrown. The other man looked practically gobsmacked that he would even suggest that he'd been anything but obvious. Woops. "Some people are oblivious. Or just really deep in denial." There was at least one person he knew that fit the latter.
He caught Jaskier poking one of the resort workers but was too surprised that he'd done it to actually call him out on it. Had he really just done that? Guess it made sense to check since back at the hotel, they couldn't do that to the staff there. The guy looked more confused than bothered. Jaskier was moving on without batting an eyelash. Wes was both entertained and impressed.
"A bard? Then you're a musician, right? Rock on." He winced at how much like some old man he sounded right there. It was from all his teasing Conrad over his sixties hip lingo. Now he was slinging groovy slang without meaning to. Thankfully Jaskier went right on talking so at least the moment of embarrassment was short-lived.
"Witchers? No. Maybe hundreds of years ago. There aren't really monsters walking around anymore. People are assholes enough to each other to deal with." Ciri had mentioned witchers before so he knew what they were. Sorta. There were a lot of things that Ciri didn't share and he hadn't wanted to be rude and prod her about it. But from what he gathered, witchers were magic and magic was definitely not from where he was from. "You wrote a song about him and he still didn't catch on? Wow. I hope I'm never that dense." If someone was flirting with him, he was sure he could tell.
The subject of lovers almost made Wesley choke on his drink. He covered it up quickly by gulping most of it down. Wes wondered how much Ciri told her family about him. About them. "I'm not really looking for anything ...committment-ish. But I've got an interest in someone." He watched Jaskier's face for his reaction. If he was trying to get more information, he was going to have to start with some very specific questions. But Wes could give him a freebie. "Maybe a couple someones."
