The thing about this place -- this hotel -- was that very often you might expect one thing and get something completely different in return. For instance, Snape did not expect to be here and he was. And he didn't expect to have a roommate, but he did.
And he didn't expected to walk into the library and see Regulus Black, but, well, there he was.
For a moment, he paused in the spot of the room where the books got less dense and the seating was more open, unsure. On one hand, he and Regulus had gotten along well enough in school, despite their slight age and year difference. And on the other -- this man had disappeared without a word several years prior and Severus had no real idea where his loyalties lay. He could just as easily turn around and slip out the door without a word.
