He'd meant to show up alone and practice. That way there was no one around for him to feel embarrassed about watching him fall and fall and fall again on his ass while he tried one stupid stunt after another. So Wes was disappointed at first to see that someone else had beat him to the ice rink but when she brought up that she knew how to skate, he perked up again.
"You know how to skate? I've only really roller-skated and I'm not even great at that." He quickly found a place to sit and nearly tore his shoes off to get the ice skates on. Conrad had helped teach him a little but Wes still felt like a newborn giraffe. Once he had them, he put the skates to the test and tried to walk out onto the ice rink.
"I'm Wes, by the way." Because if he was going to be asking for help, he ought to at least give her his name.
