"We have that mentality in common, then." A smile tugged at Zemo's lips. Honestly, Zemo wasn't looking for approval or even anyone to tell him he wasn't entirely in the wrong. He was going to do as he pleased regardless. However, it was reassuring to hear that at least one other person might have behaved in such a manner; that his train of thought wasn't entirely off the rails. Zemo may have been acting foolishly, but it wasn't entirely without reason.
"James and I.. We had a connection, back in our world. Steve Rogers was gone and while I realize I could never replace him in James' mind, I believe I could have been a suitable distraction. You can see why I was disappointed when I came here to find that Steve Rogers was no longer a thing of the past." Zemo paused, taking another sip from his drink. "I can't compete with Steve Rogers. That's a fight I would lose no matter how I went about it. I should just lay the whole matter to rest and forget about it. This would be so much easier if I knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that James had no interest in me. But Loki, if he gives me those bedroom eyes one more time, I do not think I will be able to restrain myself."
