The fact of the matter was Loki had tried discouraging Stephen back when they'd tried putting a name to what they had. Loki had tried her very best to push Stephen away because she hadn't trusted her own self or nature to not make something bad of it.
That hadn't worked out, obviously. Which was -- very good.
But she paused herself over the concept -- if there had been someone else, would she still have gone for it? Loki's first thought was that it wouldn't matter because Stephen wouldn't have noticed someone else flirting with him, either. But that was a throw away response.
"I'd still have tried to take what I wanted," Loki said eventually. Because it was true; she still had a selfish streak and wasn't all that worried about quelling it.
