Zemo smiled. Sometimes you have to do things yourself. If only Will knew how deeply those words resinated. That had practically been Zemo's mantra for the past eight years. The very mantra that had driven him to cause a war between the Avengers. And while the baron couldn't say he had succeeded on his own, because the Sokovia Accords had certainly helped his cause, he had absolutely accomplished his goal by taking matters into his own hands.
At Will's question, Zemo laughed a little, shaking his head. "James and I.. we were actually enemies until very recently. And even now, I am in the process of earning his trust. I... framed him for murder, among other things, so his lack of trust is justified. So no, I can't say I would have wanted his help in the past. Now, however, things are different, and he does indeed help when I need him to."
Honestly, Zemo wasn't sure how Will would take that not-so-little confession. Framing someone for murder normally didn't fall under the category of 'polite conversation'. But they had strayed from 'polite conversation' minutes ago, so maybe, the admission would not cause Will to be wary of him. "Do you.. know what James is? Did he tell you?"
