Re: Rey & Anakin
Anakin listened and was surprised by what he heard, and yet, not at all. He'd died, or would die, after all. And that lightsaber was then free to choose a new wielder.
But he did take it when offered. It wasn't so he could keep it. This was something else entirely, a connection in the Force as he reached out with his mind to connect with the kyber crystal inside.
He looked over the lightsaber on the outside, then when satisfied, he went deeper.
He held his hand open, palm up, the lightsaber floated in the air above his hand with the Force. And then, still by the power of the Force, it started to slowly deconstruct, right there in the air. He wanted a visual link to the crystal. He'd deconstructed and reconstructed this lightsaber a thousand times at the very least, he could do this with his eyes closed. Cleaning it, tuning it, but never to fix it. It had never needed it in his time. By the time he'd built this blade, he'd had so much practice before it that this one was solid, and the proof was that it had lasted so very long.
The parts of the blade kept unlocking, untwisting, disconnecting until it had expanded enough to reveal the kyber crystals two of them, now central to the cloud of parts suspended in the air. The crystals vibrated in the Force as all kyber crystals did, but in a way that was new. New for him.
The sunlight glinted off one of the facets of the crystal and Anakin smiled and sighed.
While it had come apart slowly, its reconstruction was fast. All the little pieces zipped back together like a mini implosion. But at the end was not something destroyed, but made whole again.
