Of all the Mauraders, Sirius and James had always been the most physical. They were always in each other's space, hanging off each other's shoulders and generally monkeying around. They weren't strangers to hugs, or bracing pats on the back, but he didn't think they had ever had a hug like this. Sirius clung to him, his grip almost painful in its intensity, but James didn't move away. Sirius was the one familiar thing in this place, and he clung right back.
"Sirius. What's happened?" He pulled back just enough to see his friend's face, then just stared at the changes. This Sirius did not look like the Sirius he'd seen just a week ago. What had happened? "About five or ten minutes maybe? I was at home--Lily! Harry! He was there. I have to get back to them."
He pulled away, intending to Apparate again, but the look on Sirius' face stopped him.
"Sirius, tell me what the bloody hell is going on."
