That had been Armitage's secondary worry: that Poe would feel guilty for being unable to change what had happened aboard the Steadfast. Armitage would never have the chance to experience one of these time jumps himself, but he was vaguely under the impression that events couldn't be altered. It was something that was entirely out of Poe's control and even if it wasn't, Armitage didn't want Poe to feel responsible for the General's actions.
"It's okay, dear. Really, it is. I wouldn't have expected you to change anything." By now, Armitage had caught on that Poe wanted a little more than just a reminder of what his chest felt like. So he moved, pushing himself up onto his knees and tugging his shirt off. "I wouldn't have listened to you, no matter what you or Finn told me."
He remembered, because he had been there himself not all that long ago. And oh, how stupid he had been. He had been so willing to throw everything away, just to make Ren look bad. Spite had been so loud in his ears, not even the most sound logic would have reached him. And he had certainly paid for it, hadn't he?
But Armitage wouldn't let that melancholy lull get either of them down. He leaned over Poe, playfully brushing their noses together. He had been hesitant to show his husband too much affection before he knew for certain that Poe wasn't at odds over seeing him. Now, he was more than happy to welcome Poe back to the present. Their present.
"But that's sort of the beauty of what we have, isn't it? Look how far we've come since then.. I bet you take pride in what you've done, don't you? You like that you've domesticated me." And surely, Armitage liked it too, because he was smiling as he pressed a kiss or two to Poe's cheek.
