Exhausted didn't even come close to describing how Armitage felt. The past month had been nothing but a never-ending string of draining events. And every notch the hotel left seemed to dig a little deeper each time. Seeing his father had given him nightmares, but losing Ben had left him in a state of shock that he hadn't fully recovered from. Realizing that Poe was missing had damn near driven him to the point of insanity. Because Armitage absolutely, positively could not lose his husband.
In the back of his mind, he had always known it was a possibility. Nothing lasted forever, particularly around the Crown Plaza. Armitage had seen it over the Network. Posts about people leaving and never returning. Logic dictated that Poe could reappear. Ben had come back from the grave. Surely Poe stood equal chance of retuning.
But that didn't stop Armitage from worrying. He had gone out with Rey, Finn, and Ben, despite knowing they likely wouldn't find a trace of the pilot. Surely, between their three Force-sensitive companions, at least one of them would have detected Poe's presence if he were on the island. Eventually, he returned to his room, desperately needing time alone in order to collect himself.
Oddly enough, Armitage hadn't even been past the threshold five minutes before he received that text. The ginger damn near ripped the door off it's hinges pulling it open, leaning out into the hall. Because, much like with Ben, even with the hope given to him by the text message, he wouldn't believe Poe had come back until he saw him in person.
And when he did lay eyes on Poe, the poor pilot would barely be given an opportunity to speak before Armitage was squeezing the life out of him with an embrace. "Darling, where have you been? We've been worried sick - Are you okay? Is everything alright?"
