Of course it would be Thor that would make her giggle now. It didn’t even surprise her, that he was able to make this moment lighter. He’d made her life lighter, in the best of ways, and Diana had been grateful for the chance to know him. She still was, and doubly so because this Hotel had taken him from her. The Crown Plaza had given him back, aye, but she would never forget that it had also taken, and that first.
Privately, Diana felt that there was much she could have done, and the least would’ve been to blind her brother and leave him broken and dying before he’d killed Thor rather than after, but there was no point in arguing. She leaned her head into his hand, relishing his touch after she’d thought she’d never feel it again, and met his eyes.
“It has resurrected you.” The finality of it, something in her eyes to tell him that this had been no medical miracle or other marvel. She had brought his lifeless body to his loved ones. “And I am grateful, but I will see this hotel burn.” Not now, maybe not even within a human lifetime, but whatever entity had been responsible for this would suffer. The simulacrum that had struck the blow had paid, and dearly, but had that hurt the hotel? Likely not, and so Diana would wait.
Her opinion of this place had changed, and while she knew that others’ lives depended on this place she was held back... but that would not always be the case, and Diana’s patience could move mountains.
“It has not been long, but I...” Diana paused, and her hand came up to circle his wrist, the one he was using to hold her face, keeping his hand there. And she curled into him again, her other arm wound around his waist now instead of his shoulders, holding him close because she had thought she’d never feel his heartbeat again. “I missed you.” More than she likely should have, considering how short their time together had been, but that did not change anything about her feelings.
