It took some time. The moment stretched on, but Thor wasn't letting go until Diana did. She needed this, it seemed, and truthfully, the contact made him feel more alive than waking up and taking a breath did. It didn't matter now, how long it had been. He could figure that part out later. For now, this woman he cared for so much more deeply than he should have needed him. And he needed her.
His dumb joke had had the intended effect, at least, getting her to brighten ever so slightly. And was that a giggle? He would take it. There was only joy now. Only relief. He didn't know what happened after he'd fallen. He wouldn't have wanted to know. Wouldn't ask, even. But now, this moment, was all he needed to be sure he'd come back. They were still stuck in the hotel but it was better than infinite dark.
"There wasn't anything you could have done." Thor assured Diana when she started to talk about her failings. He took her head in his hand and tilted her up just enough so their eyes met. Stormbreaker was visible, but he wasn't even going to acknowledge it yet. "Thank you." He said simply, of the weapon and the gesture in keeping it for him. "Diana, I'm here. I don't know how, but this place... did something. It gave me life, healed me, but it left me with a mark."
