Thor had no idea what Diana had been through, how she'd been grieving or how she believed she had failed. He could see the loss, the sadness, and the weight of something on her though, in the second before she buried her face in his chest. He'd never seen Diana cry, but there was a first time for everything. She was still a woman, after all, and she still had a heart that felt deeply for others. It was one of his favourite things about her, that compassion. So what kind of monster would he be to not return that to her now?
As Diana cried, Thor's big, powerful arms came up to pull her closer, more gently than most would believe he was capable of. The gesture was tentative, as he was beginning to suspect he hadn't just dreamed that fate he'd suffered. It had been too real for that. Far too real. How long had it been? He wondered to himself, but he didn't ask. Not yet. "I'm here, Goddess. I'm back." He said to try to comfort her, his chin coming to rest on the top of her head. Thor was here, he was real, and he was solid. This wasn't one of the hotel's ghosts.
