Nebula had barely been back to the hotel since it had landed in New York. There were just so many things to fight that she'd gone on patrol as often as was possible. As she didn't need food and rest in the same amounts as humans and other squishy (a term she had heard someone use and had decided she liked) types, it meant she was out quite a bit, with various unofficial or official patrol partners. As news kept coming in about more people dying, she fought with renewed vigor. She didn't know these people, but a part of her felt that they were hers to protect now that she was here.
The Guardians and Avengers had influenced her terribly in that regard. She was strong, others were weak, and where once that would have been enough for her to slaughter them, now she saw it as a reason to protect them. Well, that, and she really liked killing things and there were definitely plenty of things to shoot and stab out in the city. Thus far she had come up against both familiar and unfamiliar foes, and each time she left victorious and relieved that it wasn't Thanos. A part of her wondered if it was only a matter of time, but there was no sense in worrying over things outside of her control. If it happened, she would cross that burden when she came to it.
At the moment she had her hands filled with a very angry giant. With a final burst of effort, she launched herself into the air and landed on the creature's back. With a grunt she dud the tempersteel claws of her right hand into the back of its neck, and with her other arm she pressed her blaster to the side of its head. She triggered the blaster once, twice, and felt the shock go through the thing. It screamed and then started to fall. She used the momentum to somersault off its back and landed on the ground just as the thing stumbled and then fell. It crashed into the ground with a loud thud and went still.
She kicked at it, then turned away when she was content it was dead. It was then that she noticed the man flying a short distance away. He landed, and she recognized him as someone she'd seen at the hotel. "I am fine," she replied, retracting her claws but leaving the blaster in her hand. "I am not going back to the hotel. There are more things to kill out here."
