Her shoulders moved slightly to show that she heard her mate behind her, and slowly moved forward, under a bush, until she was just short of her edge. Despite her fur being much lighter than Derek's, Kitty was a very good and very patient hunter and slowed her breathing so that the creature wouldn't be able to hear her.
The wind shifted suddenly, moving from upwind to downwind, and she knew that she had only a few scant seconds left of surprise, so she made her move. In a blur that gave no warning aside from a sudden growl, she shot out of the bush and leapt for the creatures back where her powerful jaws clamped on the back of its neck, claws digging painfully into its hide. It let out a roar and shifted, and Kitty was vaguely aware of Derek moving to go for it's legs.
