It was with a new appreciation that Erwin watched Levi take off. He had always admired the captain for his skills, had even dragged him out from the underground because he could value his abilities, but this was something different now. Watching Levi move, Erwin held back a breath for a moment, his eyes following his every movement carefully, soaking it all in for now.
As the second one came into view, Erwin launched himself behind Levi. He had more practice at being in charge lately and leading, but he had five years of killing Titans under his belt before he'd become commander. Far more than just about anyone left alive. He moved with ease, finding the nape of the neck and taking down his Titan a moment later. It fell hard with a thud, landing on the ground, dead.
Erwin retreated back to a rooftop, taking in a breath to still his own beating heart. He hadn't thought he would need to do that here, though the entire time, he'd been mentally preparing for something like this showing up. "Let's hope it's not that bad." Wishful thinking, but he had to say it.
