It might have started out as infatuation - just a little crush, really - but Audrey had a bad habit of getting attached to people really quickly and since she had never sensed anything but mutual attraction from Percy, she had just let herself lean into it. She felt safe and comfortable there. It seemed like something in Percy just drew something in her towards him. She wasn't going to deny that just because she might have been scared of losing someone else she was falling in love with. And she was pretty sure that's what it was, too. Even if it was just the first tiny flickers of it. It was just the fact that he was here with her, that he had stayed, and hadn't for a moment made her feel like she was a burden on him or his time.
She slid her fingertips along the back of his hand and up his bare arm, settling just where his sleeve was rolled up, while her other hand drifted to his shoulder. She had probably been about to say something quippy, but she completely forgot about it when he spoke. A light blush colored her cheeks and she dragged her lower lip between her teeth, ducking her head in almost uncharacteristic shyness. She settled between his legs, letting him draw her in even more, and pressed back into his hands. "Not being covered in blood helps," she smirked and leaned in to dot a swift, sweet kiss against his lips. "Unless you're into that sort of thing. And I could probably arrange something if you are."
Audrey lifted her hand up from his shoulder to brush her fingers through his hair instead. "But I suppose that makes us a good match, then, doesn't it?" Her fingers caught in the hair right at the back of his head, curling slightly, gripping the strands so she could ease his head back and hold him in place. She brushed the side of her leg against the inside of his thigh, slowly drawing her leg up and to the side, maintaining contact the whole time, until she could lean in and rest her knee on the bed next to his hip. Shifting her balance, she did the same thing with the other leg, trusting that he'd hold onto her and keep her from stumbling.
When she was finally settled squarely in his lap, her hand slid down to the back of his neck and pulled him forward. She finally gave him a real, earnest kiss. She didn't always need this much control. In fact, she usually didn't. But the events of the day had drawn something up from inside of her and she needed it this time. Not that anyone had ever complained. And Percy certainly didn't seem to mind. "If you're going to fight a dragon," she hummed against his lips, "I figure I should probably give you something to fight for."
