Steve smiled. "It's more than just checkers, Tony, it's just.." ..what the building was called.
But Steve was too caught off guard to finish that sentence.
Tony was reaching for him and Steve was mirroring that action, taking hold of his arm and pulling him away from those bushes surrounding the zoo entrance. Out stepped a HYDRA soldier, dressed in one of those old black uniforms that Steve hadn't seen since the forties. Initially, Steve wondered if this was just some sort of weird prank. Because even if New York had been taken over by HYDRA, why would they be dressed in that old style of attire?
But then another joined the soldier and Steve looked around, realizing that they were coming out from behind trees and statues as well. This definitely wasn't a prank.
Steve wasn't afraid of the HYDRA soldiers, necessarily. More unnerved by them and their sudden appearance. The blonde leaned in a little closer, giving Tony's wrist a gentle squeeze. "We should get out of here.." Blowing through the soldiers and fighting them was probably an option, too. But Steve still didn't know what exactly was going on here and didn't want to make the wrong presumption. Better to just make themselves scarce.
