Thor hadn't even noticed the sadness on Diana's face, so caught up in the idea that he might actually get one of those Caesar wraps again, for the first time in a long time. He'd not been to New York in years, not since before the Ragnarok incident, so the idea was very appealing to him. His stomach started to do the thinking for the moment and it wasn't until she spoke that he caught himself and what was happening. Thankfully, the dragon might have a destination in this direction after all, if she wanted to chase it.
"That sounds... lonely."
The words sounded a little hollow, because it was a feeling he knew well, but it was true enough. Why wait until everyone else was asleep, or early in the morning when the world was just waking up? Thor didn't like the idea of Diana living that life. She was too bright, too vibrant and kind to live so alone for so long. But yet he knew she had. She hadn't protested coming along, so he kept walking and the closer they got, the less likely it seemed that the place would be open.
Thor remembered this corner as bustling, busy and full of life. Even the deli usually had a line out the door at lunchtime, which Thor could only guess it had to be close to now. Wong had been very right about that place that day. Who knew? Maybe the sorcerer would even be there, waiting for his usual tuna melt. Slowing his stride just enough to fall into line with Diana, Thor cast a look over at her, and got lost for a moment in her elegant figure before something hit him, hard. Thor found himself launched backward until he came to rest in the outer wall of a building a few meters away. The attack hadn't even grazed Diana. It was clear she wasn't the target.
Thor looked up from where he lay and saw a squad of five Jotuns, with two Asgardian women at their front, dressed in green and black.
