She did not need Thor to tell her that dragons did not belong in New York City. Perhaps there was some timeline where dragons did still live among the humans, but it was not Diana’s timeline, and she knew that this green-and-white creature did not belong here, anymore than they did at the moment. Still, Diana did not take this sighting the way a human might, or even Thor. As far as she was concerned, all the humans had killed dragons and unicorns and other such fun legendary creatures before she’d even gotten a chance to leave her island, and she would not watch this one die.
So as Thor readied his axe, Diana raised a hand, intending to stop him. She needn’t have, as he didn’t bother, but there had been no doubt in her mind that she could’ve caught Stormbreaker or deflected it entirely if she’d had to. Brave men did not kill dragons, but it seemed that Thor already knew that, because he hadn’t tried. Still, he made a good point, and Diana nodded.
“I don’t really see a scenario where something terrible may not have happened if there is a dragon flying above us,” she pointed out, but there was a grin on her face as she headed in the direction the dragon had gone. Thor might be intending to check on the city and its civilians, and Diana would do that as well… but she would also see just how close she could get to this dragon.
