"We'll be talking about that later," Theo said, giving him another frown of disapproval. He wasn't concerned for what might have happened to him so much as what could have happened to Gilmore. "I'm not doubting your skills, but please no more putting yourself at risk to give me a little thrill."
Theo filed all of the information about Exandria away. He was definitely going to ask more about sea monsters later, when it was a more opportune time. Now, they needed to be on alert, not distracted with wonderful stories. There would be time for that later.
He noticed Gilmore pull out a small glass bead, but didn't ask what it was for. Instead he moved closer to Gilmore, taking the hand when it was offered. "I want to know where you are too," he said, torn between remaining still and continuing on towards the hotel. Then the bead was broken and he could just make out the shimmer of a barrier around them.
"This will work," he said, more as an attempt to bolster his own nerves. Seeing the wizards in robes had shaken him more than he'd thought. He was so far removed from that part of his past, especially here at the hotel, that seeing it had made him feel all of sixteen again, helpless against expectations. "Let's go."
They walked, careful to remain in the barrier, and Helios cooperated. The calming spell he'd cast as Gilmore put up the barrier doing it's job on the creature. Eventually, he could just make out the hotel in the near distance, and there was no sign of any Death Eater robes.
