"Nothing's wrong with it," Wesley softened his tone. He'd heard the defensiveness. "I just didn't know you had a spunky side down underneath all that seriousness." He lightly and playfully pinched at Conrad's arm nearest him. "I'm more a Paul McCartney boy myself but I like most of the band's early stuff. Paperback Writer I, uh, actually sang to this girl that I had a crush on. I was off-key though so it didn't work." And she had been expecting a love song so maybe it had more to do with his choice than his pitch. That scotch and liquor were buzzing pleasantly inside his head. He blinked lazily. "So now I have to know. George or John? Who was your favorite?"
There was that uneasy feeling again. It could have just been the combination of the random shots he'd taken in the last thirty minutes, he reasoned with himself. The harder he tried to ignore it, the worse that feeling became. Thankfully, Conrad proved to be an excellent distraction.
"Oh you think this is me trying? No, no, no, you haven't seen me try anything yet. These are just the appetizers." Lies. Wes had been trying. It wasn't often he had someone's attention and when he did, he wanted to keep it. If Conrad was looking to really be impressed, there was a darts board on the wall behind them.
The Kinks made their groovy debut in the bar, the beat instantly making Wes start bobbing his head. "I don't know if I've heard this one before," he admitted. But he was quiet and listened. The soft tapping was subtle but Wes could hear it even over the music. "Looks like we found your song," he dropped his eyes to Conrad's hand and then lifted his smug gaze up again to those pretty blue eyes. "It's ..." Wes made it look like he was about to say it. He was tempted to try and see if Conrad would sock him in the arm for it. But maybe he'd teased the blonde enough for one night. And he might like getting punched too much. "Electric." He quirked an eyebrow up and looked down to Conrad's hips to see if there was any jiggly movements happening. "Is this what it takes to get you to dance?"
