"Boogie? Really? Christ, don't say that." Even though it was a completely common term from his era. But Conrad had a stick up his ass and had a tendency to avoid poplar lingo, even if it made him seem like an old fuddy duddy. Which, in a way, he was. "And I did, yes. Why? Is it.. odd to comb your hair in the future?"
He paused, looking Wesley over. Was Conrad overdressed? Not that it mattered. He wasn't about to drag himself back upstairs just because Wesley didn't approve of his look.
"Come on, I didn't ask you to come down here just so you could make fun of me. There's plenty of time for that after drinks." And maybe, they could play pool inside a real pool hall.
Conrad led them outside, and initially, he didn't detect anything strange. Although, the further they walked, the more he began to realize how still the air was. The absence of noise, the absence of other people.. Conrad may have never visited New York before, but he had been to plenty of big cities. And something wasn't right.
As soon as they were out of the park and on the city street, Conrad stopped at the nearest store, cupping his hands against the glass of the window and peering inside. "There's no one here.." He paused, looking back at Wesley. "Should we keep going?"
