“Nor I.” Diana did not need to add more to that, because she could not fathom who might have wanted to build a place like this, or why. What they could possibly have to gain by throwing a bunch of people into a pocket dimension hotel. She had even entertained the idea that perhaps there was no person or people that had established this place and that it simply was, and all of them had simply wandered into it through the strangest set of coincidences she’d ever seen.
She was not the best with implication, but even Diana heard the unspoken part of his sentence, and she might have kissed him again if they weren’t sitting in the middle of the dining room. Outside on the grounds with no one to see had been one thing, but Diana was still keenly aware of her meeting with Natasha, and the very subtle warning she’d been given. She appreciated it, and understood it, but she bore it in mind as a reminder that she was not the only person here who cared for Thor.
“Good. I have said it before and I will say it again. You deserve some peace, after all you have weathered to keep others safe.” Diana gave him another sunny smile, and her free hand reached for the cup of coffee she’d brought to the table, though it had long since gone cold by now. Luckily, she didn’t mind that as much as she could have, because what was iced coffee but cold coffee to begin with? And now it wouldn’t be watered down by ice, so really, Diana couldn’t complain.
Although there probably was iced coffee around here somewhere, if she’d bothered to investigate.
